New York City
Endlessly fascinating, New York surprises us on every street corner. Historically it has been a magnet for people who want to reinvent themselves, individuals who are willing to test their potential. New York City is not only an exciting and invigorating urban center, but also a dynamic, challenging and complex learning environment. CITYterm students study immigration not just in classrooms with books, but in neighborhoods with people recently arrived from China, The Dominican Republic, Russia, Korea, Mexico and Haiti. Students bring readings and classroom conversations about race in America to life with visits to Harlem and Flatbush, Brooklyn. New York City offers a stunning range of lectures, concerts and cultural activities for CITYtermers to dig into and explore. The best the world has to offer in every field of endeavor - art, ballet, theater, photography, architecture - either resides in New York or passes through over the course of the year. Students spend three days per week in New York City on CITYexpeditions and are also free on Saturday evenings and Sundays to explore the city with their peers in groups of three.
