SAVE THE DATE! August 28, 2017 begins our fall sports practices/tryouts 

Dear Athletes, Dancers and Families:

In keeping with the traditional independent college preparatory school philosophy, The Masters School believes that a strong athletic program is an essential complement to its academic program. The feelings of physical well-being, along with the lessons in commitment, sportsmanship, self-discipline, and teamwork that come from this type of participation are benefits that The Masters School holds in high regard.

Our expectation is that all fall athletes will be participating in the fall preseason practices. Masters students have found the preseason to be very rewarding –to further their athletic skills plus to assist in their acclimation to the school year. As preseason includes two practice sessions per day plus lunch and afternoon social activities, it is a great opportunity to build team spirit and develop friendships with both new and returning students.

Please note that preseason is not a time for conditioning but rather a time to develop and elevate the technical and tactical component of your sport. The coaches have posted links to summer workout programs on the main page of the athletics section of the school website. We stress that you work on your conditioning and skills whenever possible throughout the summer. To be prepared for preseason is an athlete’s responsibility. When we come physically prepared for preseason, we can then develop as players, athletes, and as a team at a quicker pace. The Athletic Department and Coaches are looking forward to preseason and to an exciting season and school year.

The preseason will officially begin on Sunday, August 27th, with student athlete registration for boarding students, followed by a picnic. Registration for day student athletes will be the morning of Monday, August 28th with practices to follow. With the exception of Monday, August 28th, all practices will start at 9:00 AM.

The schedule for the week of preseason is as follows:

7:30 AM – 8:30 AM … Breakfast is available
9:15 AM – 9:30 AM … Athletes and Dance meet in the Theatre
9:30 AM – 11:00 AM … Practice
11:30 AM – 1:00 PM … Lunch in the Dining Hall and Relax
12:30 PM – 2:30 PM … Activities TBA
3:00 PM – 5:00 PM … Practice
5:30 PM – 7:00 PM … Dinner in the Dining Hall

Tuesday, August 29 – Friday, September 1
7:30 AM – 8:30 AM … Breakfast is available
9:00 AM – 11:00 AM … Practice (Parents are welcome to meet Coaches on Friday 9/1)
11:30 AM – 1:00 PM … Lunch in the Dining Hall and Relax
12:30 PM – 2:30 PM … Activities TBA
3:00 PM – 5:00 PM … Practice (no 3:00 PM practice on Friday 9/1)
5:30 PM – 7:00 PM … Dinner in the Dining Hall
